Mexico City, in race week.
The highest race of the season falls in the city's most vivid week. How to spend the days around it, and where to stay.

Mexico City is a race weekend unlike the others. The Gran Premio de la Ciudad de México runs at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, and in 2026 it falls from 30 October to 1 November, during Día de Muertos.

Altitude, and a stadium
At around 2,200 metres, this is the highest race on the calendar. The final sector runs through the Foro Sol, a stadium section where the podium is set in front of the grandstands. It is the loudest crowd of the season, and it is worth being there for the last laps.
The city around the track
The weekend falls during Día de Muertos, when the city is at its most alive. Plan the days either side of the race as carefully as the race itself: a long lunch, a gallery, an evening walk along Reforma.

Where to stay
The desk's five hotels for the weekend sit along Paseo de la Reforma or in Polanco. The Four Seasons is on Reforma, with a heated rooftop pool. The St. Regis rises 31 storeys where Reforma meets Polanco, with butler service around the clock. The Ritz-Carlton takes floors 37 to 47 of a glass tower above Chapultepec Park. The Sofitel Reforma stands steps from the Angel of Independence, and Las Alcobas is the intimate address in Polanco, close to the city's best tables.
Rooms are subject to availability, and the desk asks for the view as well as the room.
